The idea for Social Sundhed took shape at Denmark's largest case competition for social innovation at Aarhus University in 2013. Prior, Rådet for Socialt Udsatte had asked for a concrete solution to the extreme inequality in Danish health and social care.
Social Sundhed has come a long way since its conception. Here are selected highlights from our history:
2013: Social Sundhed is founded by Kristina Louise Bliksted.
2014: We educate the first volunteer healthcare students, who then accompany socially disadvantaged people to their appointments and treatment courses in the healthcare system.
2015: For the first time, Social Sundhed is in the news. We talk about our concept and our efforts to create more equality in healthcare through the support of volunteers.
2016: Social Sundhed and Aarhus Kommune enter into a collaboratory agreement on new and unifying ways to create greater social equality in the city. The partnership makes it possible to hire the organisation's first paid employee.
2017: Social Sundhed organises itself with a national board. Social Sundhed Copenhagen and Aarhus are established. We are one of the main speakers at KL's Health Conference.
2018: Social Sundhed Herning/Midwest and Social Sundhed Fredericia are established.
2019: Social Sundhed Aalborg is established. Selskab for Indvandrersundheds Sandkorn award is given to Social Sundhed. In the same year, we receive the FFSV award from the Association of Folkesundhedsvidenskab.
2020: Social Sundhed Odense is established. Social Sundhed becomes a partner in the Alliance against Social Inequality in Health.
2021: Sundhedsstyrelsen støtter Social Sundheds arbejde i København og Odense med en millionbevilling. Partnerskabet med Sundhedsstyrelsen betyder, at der de kommende tre år kan arbejdes med Ungeprogrammet med henblik på at udbrede aktiviteterne til flere byer efterfølgende. Programmet henvender sig til psykisk sårbare unge i alderen 18-32 år, som har brug for at blive ledsaget og støttet til deres aftaler og behandlingsforløb i sundhedsvæsenet og psykiatrien. Vi indgår desuden i et forskningsprojekt med forsknings- og konsulenthuset DEFACTUM på vegne af Center for Praksisnær Rehabiliteringsforskning (CePR). Formålet er at belyse, om Social Sundheds indsats med brobyggere forebygger social ulighed i sundhed. Social Sundhed Aalborg modtager i 2021 Nordjyske Banks Foreningspris.
2022: Social Sundhed modtager Kronprinsparrets Sociale Stjernedryspris 2022.
